David Bryon

Dr David Bryon is the former Managing Director of BMI Baby, which grew to become one of the Europe's largest low cost airlines under his leadership, flying over 4.5 million passengers each year with a turnover in excess of £200 Million. This phenomenal growth occurred in a capital intensive, highly regulated and very mature market place. It was sold to the IAG Group (British Airways) in 2012 along with the parent company BMI.

He now enjoys a successful media career that includes a highly popular after-dinner comedy routine (based around flying), business Keynote speaking, awards hosting and conference facilitating. David has performed across Europe & the Middle East including Moscow, Dubai, Kuwait, Barcelona, Athens, Nice and... Hull.

He was born and raised in the south of England and completed a degree and PhD in geology at the University of Liverpool before becoming involved with the early evolution of the internet and e-commerce. David then moved to America in 1996 and continued to work within the e-commerce sector.

He also started writing a humorous newspaper column looking at life in America through the eyes of a cynical Englishman. This became very successful and also led to David hosting his own TV talk show that broadcast on a regional cable channel.

David Bryon returned to the UK in 2000 to take-up a position with the airline BMI, and was part of the senior management team that set-up the low cost carrier BMIBaby in 2002. He was Commercial Director for 18 months before being appointed Managing Director.

Since leaving BMI Baby following its sale to IAG Group, David has returned to the media and has built and excellent reputation as both a professional keynote business speaker and a highly amusing after dinner speaker. His knowledge and experience provide a wealth of hilarious stories and tales from the aviation industry that entertain audiences of all types.
