Ian Holloway

Ian Holloway is one of the most recognised names in English sport thanks to his effervescent personality. However Ian’s true name comes from his impact in English football. Ian was a solid Football League player as he made over 500 appearances during his career, playing for the likes of Bristol Rovers, Wimbledon, Brentford, Torquay and QPR.

However it was as a manager that Ian truly made his name in the English game. He started his managerial career at Bristol Rovers where he transitioned from a player to coach. He then spent a long stint at QPR where he got them promoted to the Championship and spent a couple seasons there.

Ian then spent a season at Plymouth Argyle and Leicester City each, before moving on the Blackpool. At Blackpool in his first season he took them up via the Play-Offs after a 6th placed finish in the Championship. He described the moment as the best moment in his life as it was Blackpool’s first time in the top-flight for 40 years. Although they were relegated after one season in the Premier League, he then took Blackpool back into the play-offs and they narrowly missed out to West Ham in the final.

After his time at Blackpool, Ian earned himself a move to Crystal Palace, where he led them to promotion back in to the Premier League. Ian then spent a short spell at Millwall before going back to another of his former clubs – QPR where he spent two seasons.
