-
Known for Songs of Praise (BBC), Celebrity Masterchef and Gogglebox
-
Presenter of BBC Radio 2’s Good Morning Sunday
Originally from Sheffield, the Reverend Kate Bottley is a priest in North Nottinghamshire. Ordained in 2008, she is passionate about bringing stories of faith and belief to the widest audience possible. Kate was not raised in a church-going family, and started going to church because she fancied the local vicar’s son. They have been married since 1998 and have two children.
In 2012 Kate did a dance as part of a wedding flashmob which subsequently went viral, with more than seven million hits on YouTube; it was this that led to her being approached by Channel 4’s BAFTA and National Television Award-winning series show Gogglebox.
She presents BBC Radio 2’s weekly show, Good Morning Sunday, with Jason Mohammed. Kate is a frequent guest contributor on BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought on The Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show and presented the station’s The Sunday Hour.
Kate is regular presenter on Songs of Praise (BBC 1). She fronted Alone With the In-Laws (BBC 2) and In The Footsteps of Judas, a flagship Easter documentary for BBC 1.
She has also made guest appearances on Celebrity Masterchef, Hairy Bikers Cracking Christmas, The One Show, Rip Off Britain (BBC 1) and 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4). In 2017, Kate journeyed to Camino de Santiago for BBC 2’s The Pilgrimage.
Kate has written for a variety of newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Independent and Radio Times.
She is taking a break from full-time parish ministry, but will continue to take church services and officiate at weddings and funerals, as part of a wider remit which will include writing and broadcasting projects.
Kate loves telly and dancing. Her karaoke songs of choice are 9 to 5 or Ice, Ice Baby. She is owned by a seven year old retired racing greyhound called Buster.
Reverend Kate Bottley is available for after dinner speeches and conference speaking.

Kate was absolutely FANTASTIC! One of our volunteers, who has been to nearly every event we’ve done for the last seven years, said he enjoyed it more than any other event we’d ever had. She was an absolute joy and we loved every minute of hosting her.
Kate was fantastic and so personable. The members absolutely loved her and no task we asked of her was too much from announcing raffle tickets to taking selfies with the members. Our Facebook account has been inundated with wonderful comments and fabulous photos. We were privileged to hear stories regarding your children who obviously bring you a lot of joy and support and your upbringing.
We chose Kate as the after dinner speaker for our Annual Institute Dinner. Throughout the evening Kate was absolutely fantastic, from speaking with top table guests before the meal to dancing with guests after her speech. Kates delivery was flawless, she engaged with everybody in the room and her speech was absolutely brilliant and had one or two people crying with laughter. I couldn’t recommend Kate more highly for any corporate events as her professionalism and humour couldn’t fail to disappoint. I would also highly recommend COBJ Management as they were extremely helpful throughout the entire process.
Kate certainly got our conference off to a positive and joy-filled start! As well as mingling with delegates on their arrival prior to her speech, she made time to chat to speakers and organisers afterwards, offering photos and smiles all round. Her energy, enthusiasm, honesty and seemingly endless raft of perfectly judged stories really did engage the delegates and provided the perfect bridge between passion for life more generally and renewed faith in our calling. Wit, intelligence and care seem to ooze from Kate and we would not hesitate to recommend her to others seeking a key note. She was only too willing to accommodate us on the pre-event conference call […] giving us her full attention and charm! Every aspect of her approach, both in the lead-up to and on the day itself, has been exemplary, and an inspiration to us all here at GSAL. Our memories of her words and her presence will certainly not fade quickly.
Kate did an amazing job at our awards on Friday! She was a joy to work with; her hosting of the event was so adept, so witty, so sparklingly good. Many people have been in touch to say how much they enjoyed it, and all have commented on what a splendid job she did and how she hit exactly the right tone.
Kate was absolutely brilliant!! She is so approachable. She went round the room speaking to the ladies before she did her ‘stuff’ which was entertaining from start to finish. She fulfilled our criteria of ‘Inspiring Women’ in spades. A lovely person with a huge personality.
Our conference was really successful, and Kate was everything we had hoped for. She was just right for our audience and it went down really well.
