Lucy Grey

Lucy Grey is an award winning journalist with twenty years’ experience working in live news for the BBC. She has reported from all over the world for TV, radio and online; including from an Italian earthquake zone, a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon, various terror attacks in Europe and from onboard a migrant rescue ship off the coast of Libya.

Lucy can be seen regularly covering the chief presenter slots on BBC news and has hosted all of the single-headed branded programmes; News Now, Verified Live, The World Today and The Context. She has been heavily involved in covering the war in Gaza; interviewing members of Netanyahu’s cabinet, his spokesperson and the Jordanian foreign minister. She’s also chaired multiple panel debates while hosting The Context on the Middle East, the war in Ukraine and US politics.

When reporting, she works across outlets servicing radio, TV, and writing articles for online and making videos for the BBC’s various social media platforms. Prior to presenting BBC News -– and BBC World News before that – Lucy spent many years reporting, producing and output editing radio programmes. She won a Sony Gold award in the Breaking News category for one of her shows.

She is a hugely flexible, creative journalist and is happiest covering live events unscripted, taking the viewer along with her as a story develops. Lucy has a very natural, conversational and warm broadcast style and is used to sustaining hours of coverage on breaking news both from the TV anchor chair as well as reporting out on location. She has shown that she is equally at ease covering lighter stories as she is explaining and analysing more complex or challenging issues.
