As lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, Nicole Scherzinger became one of global pop music's most recognised stars.
Selling over 55 million records worldwide, the group had enormous global hits such as 'Don't Cha', 'Stickwitu', 'Buttons', and 'Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)' which saw them nominated for a Grammy Award.
Pursuing a solo career, Scherzinger released her first two studio albums, Killer Love in 2011, followed by Big Fat Lie in 2014. However, despite her incredible commercial success as a recording artist, she has been a prominent television personality since The Pussycat Dolls disbanded in 2010.
Winning Dancing With The Stars in her native USA in 2010 saw her develop a sex symbol status and has been described as "one of the hottest women on the planet.", which led to more appearances as a judge on The X Factor here in the UK and, more recently, in 2019, she began appearing as a panelist on ITV’s The Masked Singer.
Away from pop stardom Nicole Scherzinger has also carved out a successful career in film and musicals, featuring in animated Disney film Moana and Cats, the latter of which saw her achieve a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
Nicole Scherzinger was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1978. Pursuing a career in performing arts since the age of 14, she appeared on Popstars USA in 2000 which led to a stint as part of girl-band Eden's Crush.
After declining an offer from Will.I.Am to join Black Eyed Peas in 2002 when Eden's Crush collapsed, he recommended her to music mogul and record producer Jimmy Iovine, who recruited Scherzinger to The Pussycat Dolls – a spin-off from the Los Angeles burlesque troupe – after a successful audition as the group’s lead singer, she become the only member of the group to have song-writing credits on their debut album, PCD.
Nicole Scherzinger performed a 16-week run in London’s West End for the 2023 revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard as Norma Desmond, a silent-film star who dreams of restoring her film career. Her performance garnered critical acclaim, with Matt Wolf of The New York Times hailing her performance as “career-defining”, and writing, “Scherzinger finds a predatory allure in the character that is both captivating and chilling”. She then made her Broadway debut as Desmond in the 2024 revival of the production.
Scherzinger previously was nominated for an Olivier Award for her portrayal of Grizabella in Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats, which also ran in the West End.
Despite her conservative and strict Roman Catholic religious upbringing, Nicole Scherzinger has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ rights. In 2017, through Billboard, she published a "love letter" to the LGBTQ community in which she praised the community for "standing strong against adversity and [for being] a community that unites for change”.
During her career, Nicole Scherzinger has received nominations for a Grammy and two Laurence Olivier Awards. Her other commercial ventures include clothing lines and a fragrance, as well as serving as an ambassador for the Special Olympics and as a supporter of UNICEF UK.
On March 2, 2023, it was announced that Nicole Scherzinger would be the first non-British godmother for P&O Cruises and that she would be the godmother for Arvia which was to be christened on March 16, 2023
