A former BBC business journalist, working first as a senior Radio 4 journalist and then presenting on BBC Breakfast, the News Channel, Radio 4 and Radio 5 Live, Penny Haslam draws on over twenty years’ experience observing how people can best stand out in their market.
Penny has worked in broadcast journalism covering general news, business, personal finance, consumer and workplace programmes. She's presented two BBC1 Panorama programmes: “Who Took My Pension?” - on pension commission and fees and “Can You Trust Your Bank?” - on investing with high street banks. Her radio work includes presenting Up All Night, The Stephen Nolan Show, and Drivetime for BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio 4 Extra.
Penny has written and presented investigative documentaries for The 5 Live Report covering variety of subjects including illegal abortions in the UK, mortgage shortfalls and advertising in education. Previously she was senior producer and reporter on BBC Radio 4's Money Box and she's also reported for BBC Radio 5 Live's Donal MacIntyre Show, BBC1's The 6 O'Clock News, BBC Radio 4's Feedback and Channel 4 News.
Amid the serious world of news and current affairs, she did a stint as a stand-up comic and in 2005 reached the semi-finals of the national competition, funnywomen.com. It's with this winning combination of warm humour and hard facts that Penny also chairs conferences and seminars. She has a wealth of experience hosting events and award ceremonies and is a highly accomplished conference facilitator and after dinner speaker.
