Jon Hicks

Jon Hicks has been performing for more than two decades, all over the world, as one of the UK’s top speed painters. Creating his legendary oversize paintings with incredible dexterity, bad-boy attitude and immaculate timing, all to stylish and contemporary soundtracks.

Jon studied Fine Art to degree level in the 1980s and then worked as a pavement artist. From 1993 he worked as a scenic artist producing work for film, television and the music industry, with the occasional foray into prop making and set building.

He often produces works to commission: he has chalked on Blue Peter and produced a large-scale, overnight piece for English Heritage. And at corporate or private events he’s often booked to draw the company CEO, party host or guest of honour.

His hugely popular ICONS stage show sees Jon create two large paintings from his vast repertoire of well known celebrity faces, each in around 5-6 minutes. This impressive show is funny, playful and clever; with the speed painting it has a genuinely high skill, wow factor, climax. A show like you have never seen before.

Aside from speed painting, Jon also writes poetry for performance and appeared extensively on the London poetry circuit in the late 1990s.

He frequently performs at street festivals, arts festivals, private parties and corporate events. He is a core member of the smash hit variety company Slightly Fat Features, whose shows at Pleasance One in Edinburgh drew rave reviews.

Jon Hicks has performed his speed painting at conferences, award ceremonies, charity events, product launches, trade fairs, exhibitions, private parties, weddings, festivals and on television numerous times.

Speed painting clients include Alfa Romeo, Bulgari, Amnesty International, BMW, Disney, Everton FC, Qatar National Bank, Q8, Marie Curie, Moet Hennessy, MSN, Next, Seiko, Sony, Toyota, Peugeot, Rolls Royce and Smart Car.

His paintings often fetch thousands of pounds at charity auctions.
