Jonathan Clays has been a broadcaster and voiceover artist since 1992, having started his career in radio.
Having been a national radio news reader on Virgin Radio (now Absolute), Jonathan was offered the chance to be a flying eye traffic reporter over London from a twin-engine Piper Seneca aeroplane in 1997. He accepted, thinking it might be fun for six months or so.
Five years, half a million air miles, two engine failures (thankfully not at the same time) and countless near misses later, he felt it wasn’t such a bad thing that spotter planes ceased to be the fashion and he moved over to full-time voiceover work.
These days, his voice can be heard across numerous platforms, from radio and TV commercials, to museum audio guides and public address announcements.
He is probably best known though for his work as the in-programme voice for high-profile TV shows including Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, I’m a celebrity…get me out of here, Beat the Star, Text Santa, Duel and Andrew Lloyd Webber: 40 Musical Years.
As a Voice of God, Jonathan Clays is an established live and pre-recorded announcer, having covered the spectrum of events ranging from lively awards to more sedate ceremonies.
