Neil ‘Razor' Ruddock
-
Ex-footballer, TV personality and actor
Neil ‘Razor' Ruddock is a former professional footballer, actor and television personality who was voted as the 17th ‘hardest footballer of all time'.
Neil made his debut at Millwall and went onto have a long career playing for Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Southampton. A rugged, uncompromising defender, he soon became popular with the Southampton fans especially after confidently tucking away a penalty against Newcastle United on 1 April in only his sixth game for the club, thus helping the Saints earn their first victory in 18 matches and start Southampton on a climb away from the relegation zone.
He finished his career at Swindon where he became player/coach under Roy Evans who had managed him at Liverpool. Ruddock is most famous for his time at Liverpool and notably for his on-field fight with Eric Cantona.
Neil ‘Razor' Ruddock is a fan-favourite and has achieved cult status throughout the football world. He won four caps for England U-21s and one for England B. He won one full England cap, which came against Nigeria when Terry Venables was manager.
Since hanging up his boots, Neil Ruddock has made a great number of television appearances. These include Celebrity Total Wipeout, I'm a Celebrity get me out of here, Question of Sport and 2013 Celebrity Big Brother to name a few. Neil has worked for a number of brands including Nintendo and Carlsberg. He is now a popular figure on the after dinner speaking circuit, raising money for clubs up and down the country.
